S8-KOM

Maximised performance

EDePro | Air to surface rocket S8-KOM
High Combat Effectiveness Against a Wide Range of Targets

The S8-KOM is an 80mm rocket initially created by the Soviet Air Force in the 1970s. It is used by ground assault planes and helicopters and is effective against a variety of ground targets, including armed forces and armoured equipment. It is transported in rocket pods of the B type, which may hold seven to twenty rockets.

Unguided aviation rocket S8-KOM comes with a shaped-charge and fragmentation warhead, rocket motor, nozzle and fin assembly covered by casing. EDePro advanced the system using cylindrical geometry with two types of propellant grain instead of a star geometry and a single type of propellant grain while retaining the same performances.

The rocket propellant, used for grain production, is a modern thermoplastic composite propellant with a greater total impulse than the original one. Steel nozzle with ablative material protection has six steel throats, the same as the original motor. Keeping most of the rocket’s original characteristics, EDePro’s version brings several more improvements – increased armour penetration. Although the rocket retains the majority of its original features, EDePro's version brings higher armour penetration. Furthermore, EDePro's cutting-edge propellant grain production technology allows for the extension of the working life of the rocket motor as well as the overhaul of the propellant itself. Known as the main calibre weapon in the class of unguided aircraft rockets, the S-8 KOM system is a preferred solution for solving a variety of aircraft missions.
